- Profile :
Many patients with serious cardiovascular diseases and conditions are prescribed blood-thinning medication (anti-coagulants) to prevent heart attacks, strokes, blood clots in veins and arteries, damaged heart valves and implanted metallic prosthetic and /or bio prosthetic valves.
Thus, in order to specifically serve and make follow-ups convenient for patients on anti-coagulants, Tabba Heart Institute has established an Anti-Coagulation Clinic. This clinic focuses on managing and monitoring each patient’s drug dosage and keeping it at a required level.
Anti-Coagulant patients are referred by the cardiac physicians and surgeons. Once they are registered, the Clinic plans their medication and follow-up plan depending on the severity of their case. Using Warfarin, patients are given frequent INR (International Normalized Ratio) or Prothrombin Time tests to measure their blood-clotting time period
