All the services provided in the laboratory are subjected to Internal Quality Control and Proficiency Testing (External Quality Assurance by CAP – College of American Pathologists, and RIQAS – Randox International Quality Assessment Scheme,to provide clinicians and clients with accurate and precise results. Quality Improvement Coordination Committee meeting is held on quarterly to evaluate the performance of Lab.
The Department works under the medical directorship of the Medical Director and is under the administrative/technical leadership of the Director Lab and Blood Bank and Consultant .

The department is fully equipped with all safety equipments, included safety cabinets, Fire extinguisher, Eye wash & shower, chemical storage cabinet , Chemical & Biological spill kits & fire blanket. All  chemical are labeled with NAPA Logo of risk severity 
The department consists of a fully functional five Pathology sections that include:

• Hematology& Coagulation
• Transfusion Medicine (Blood Bank) with NAT Testing
• Clinical chemistry /Chemical pathology
• Microbiology
• Molecular Pathology (Covid -19 PCR )

COBAS 6000 has two parts:  C 501 for Routine chemistry and E 601 for Immunoassay.

• Routine Chemistry Tests Are Also Carried Out On Cobas C 311auto Analyzers
• Special Chemistry Tests/Immunoassays Are Performed Using Alinity I (Abbott) (Chemiluminescence), D-10 (Bio Rad) ,Lifotronic H8 for Hemoglobin Testing Systems Especially For Hba1c,Maglumi IX3
• Screening Parameters Include: Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, HIV, VDRL, Malaria,Syphilis
• COBAS b221 for Abgs
• Nova  Crd4 for Electrolytes.
• Microlab 300 – selected rare special testing
• ELISA  Plate Reader

The Hematology section provides Hematological studies and Coagulation profiles on the following state of the art instruments:

We also perform Blood Products screening on Cobas 6000 (Chemiluminescence Technology) to minimize the chance of blood borne infection due to transfusion , we perform NAT Testing on each blood bag.

Microbiology department deals with all Special and Routine Culture and Sensitivity Tests, Bacteriology, Mycobacteriology, Mycology, Parasitology, Serology, Semenology, Immunofluorescence, Urinalysis Quality Control Culture of Water and Environment, Media preparation.
