Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology (BS-MT)

Duration of Program: 04-year degree program based on the semester system.

BS Programme is directed towards the medical technologist to improve their qualifications and enhance their interpersonal skills. The integration of these courses will provide the students with comprehensive knowledge to meet the educational needs of a medical technologist in biotechnology & in primary & tertiary health care hospitals.

Following are the clinical specialities of Medical Technology programmes:

  • Cardiovascular Sciences (CVS) – Cardiovascular professionals work with cardiac physicians to assist in providing treatment, monitoring, diagnosing patients with cardiac problems and interventional cardiac catheterization labs in acute care hospitals, electrophysiology and echocardiography. Students study of heart and its function, blood vessels in human beings, cardiac disorders and diseases associated with cardiovascular systems. The students are taught and trained invasive and non-invasive cardiac diagnostics, therapeutic and preventive techniques used in cardiovascular sciences and its application in clinical and healthcare settings
  • Cardiac Perfusion Sciences (CPS)– The Cardiac Perfusionists are the core member of the open-heart surgery team. Their role is to prepare and operate the heart-lung machine and other complex machinery during cardiovascular surgeries in a highly stressed situation. To perform their task, Perfusionists are taught comprehensive courses to develop an in-depth knowledge of the respiratory and circulatory system. Perfusion Technology involves the study of physiology, pathology and associated equipment used to support and/or assume the function of the heart and/or lungs during medical procedures. Cardiac Perfusionists are not doctors or nurses. Cardiac perfusion is an allied health career.
  • Operation Theatre Sciences (OTS)– OT technologists are responsible for direct and indirect patient care, setting up equipment and maintaining operation procedures. They are trained to assist the surgeons during the operation procedure during critical operations and surgeons depend on them for the success of the operation, making for a lucrative career. Operation Theatre Technology course is identified with all the work and management of the operation theatre. The program prepares candidates for managing the patients and in addition to observing the intricate detail of an operation theatre. During the study, the candidates are responsible for caring for all the surgical instruments and additionally their disinfection and sterilization.

ADMISSION POLICY

Aptitude Test

The institute conducts an Aptitude Test for all eligible candidates. The test consists of Multiple Choice questions of various types.

Interview

Applicants are interviewed to assess their suitability to complete the respective course and pursue a career in health sciences.

Student Selection

Applicant selection in BS-Medical Technology is strictly based on merit. Final selection of students is decided on the basis of their performance in the following:

  • Secondary School Certificate (SSC)
  • Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC)
  • Aptitude Test
  • Interview

Eligibility Criteria

  • Minimum 50% marks in Pre-Medical Group of Higher Secondary Certificate Examination held by a recognized Board of Intermediate Education in Pakistan or O/A Level and other equivalents to HSC (Pre-medical).
  • A/O Level applicants are required to produce IBCC equivalence for enrollment in the program. If you have not received equivalency yet, calculate the equivalency according to formula mentioned on the IBCC website.
  • Students awaiting results of Board of Intermediate / A-level Examinations are also eligible to apply.
  • Gender: Male and Female Both
  • Age: 17 – 30 years

Notification of Admission

Institute will inform successful applicants and a deadline will be given for the confirmation of admission. Offers not accepted by the given deadline will be cancelled.

*Enrollment Fee / Examination Fee will be charged separately as per description of Affiliation Body.

SCHOLORSHIP:
We offer financial and academic scholarship to competent students (as per policy).

Mode of Payment

On receiving the offer of admission from Institute, students are expected to deposit the required (non-refundable) admission and tuition fees within the due date mentioned in the offer letter. If the required fee is not submitted within the specified date the admission will stand cancelled.

  • Any additional taxes imposed by the government will be the liability of the students/parents/guardian.
  • The Institute reserves the right to revise the fees on interim basis.
  • Tuition Fee may be revised yearly.
